MAHE invites undergraduate students from all disciplines to submit research abstracts for the One-Day National Undergraduate Research Conference, “Contesting Unequal Futures: Society, Ecology and Digital Transformations”, organised by the Manipal Institute of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts (MISHA). The conference will be held on January 23, 2027 in Manipal.

The conference aims to provide a platform for undergraduate students to critically examine the interconnected challenges shaping contemporary societies, with a focus on ecological crises, rapid digital transformation, human agency and collective well-being. It seeks to encourage young researchers to explore how environmental degradation and emerging technologies shape social relationships, identities, cultures and perspectives on the future.

Research papers may address themes such as climate change and environmental justice, sustainability and development, health and well-being, social inequalities, artificial intelligence and automation, digital ethics and surveillance, migration and conflict, literature and cinema, cultural exchange, memory and heritage, and alternative futures. Interdisciplinary and comparative approaches are particularly welcome, encouraging students to engage with these themes across disciplinary boundaries.

Undergraduate students interested in presenting their research are invited to submit a 250-word abstract to events.misha@manipal.edu by November 15, 2026. Selected participants will be notified of acceptance by November 25, 2026. The deadline for submitting full papers of 2,000-2,500 words is December 30, 2026. The registration fee for accepted abstracts is ₹250.

The conference will feature two Best Paper Awards, with winners invited to deliver student keynote presentations. Free hostel accommodation for two nights will be provided to outstation participants, and all paper presenters will receive certificates. The conference aims to provide informed perspectives and to encourage students to contribute meaningfully to discussions about equitable and sustainable futures.
